In a move to further provide for the highest quality of
care services in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to healing from substance abuse and trauma, The Hero Program has completed design plans for its new Fitness Center and Therapy Office complex to be built on the campus grounds.
To meet the therapeutic and physical needs of the veterans served by The Hero Program, a new multi faceted gym and a new clinical building are being built with completion set for the first half of 2022. The new fitness center will include a wide range of exercise and fitness equipment including a rowing machine, incline and flat bench for weight lifting, twin cable weight towers, a kettle ball area, exercise treadmills and bike, an open area for yoga, pull up bars, among other features. Large pull up doors will be provided to allow for open air access to an exterior patio area during good weather.
Separate from but adjacent to the Fitness Center will be a new Therapy Center featuring four Counseling offices, waiting areas, and a private conference / meeting room. A surrounding front and side covered porch will allow outside seating facing the complex’s Garden Walk and will allow access to an outside terrace and fire pit area.
According to Craig LaSeur, Clinical Director and Program Manager of the Hero Program, the new Fitness and Therapy complex will further enhance the ability of The Hero Program to care for the physical needs of residents while adding greater comfort and accessibility with the additional counseling offices in the Therapy Center.
The complex will be situated near a wooded area of the Hero campus and will be in easy walking distance from the main residential complex area.
A garden walk is planned to further blend the new facility into the tree covered Hero campus and to allow for outdoor reflection areas.
HERO FALL BEAUTIFICATION
One thing is certain in Louisiana, anything planted in the ground such as grass and vegetables do grow. And so do the weeds! After an incredible year of rains with two months yet to go, the weeds have had a banter year to say the least.
While The HERO Program campus is groomed regularly by our lawn service, special areas around the campus can fall under the radar a bit at times.
Just in time for fall, members of The HERO Program staff elected to have a "clean up day" to go after those areas needing a bit of attention including our parking areas.
Pictured are Amber West, (Business Office Manager), Joby Riggs, (Admissions), Craig LaSeur, (Program Director), and Liz Livingston, (Accounts Manager), not shown in photo in her area, doing their part in the clean up.
Thanks to all for going above and beyond.
