Q. What is the age range of the HERO Program? A. We accept those 18 years of age and older into our program.
Q. Is the program limited to veterans or just active military personnel? A. Currently only veterans of all military branches, male or femaile, are eligible for the HERO program. Currently we cannot accept spouses or children into the program.
Q. Where is HERO located? A. HERO is located in Opelousas, Louisiana, the heart of Cajun Country in southwest Louisiana. The campus is located in a rural setting near Interstate 49 between Opelousas and Lafayette, Louisiana.
Q. What type of staff does HERO have? A. Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Counselors, Nurses, Mental Health Technicians and a full support staff.
Q. What is the average length of the HERO treatment program? A. We treat each person as an individual so treatment lengths can vary. On average, our program lasts 4-6 weeks.
Q. What is the campus like? A. Our rural setting features modern housing facilities, meeting and group rooms, a cafeteria, a central nurses station, administrative offices, class room settings, and an array of challenging recreational and therapeutic activity sites on the campus.
Q. What do you treat at HERO? A. Substance Abuse, Psychiatric concerns and Trauma.
Q. What do I need to bring with me when entering HERO? A. A full list of what is needed and acceptable including clothing, medicines, hygiene items, and so forth will be provided before you come to HERO. A list of what cannot be brought onto the campus will also be provided.
